The Pre-Raphaelites 1848 - 60 Julian Halsby Monday 03 June 2019

The years 1848 - 60 were the most revolutionary and significant for the Pre-Raphaelite movement.

Julian will look in detaill at how the young Millais, Rossetti, and Holman Hunt broke with the past and turned their backs on the traditions of academic and romantic painting. He will also visit the works of Ruskin. Ford Maddox Brown, Arthur Hughes, Henry Wallis, Brett, Boyce and Inchbold and examine the influence that the Pre-Raphaelites exerted in France and Europe.

Please note that , due to last minute unforseen circumstances, this lecture replaces the previously advertised one on "Kroyer and the Danish Skagen Colony", whoch is being re-scheduled.
